Can we postpone our enlightenment and salvation till older years of life?

Q: Recently I was reading a story about an old man who was ignored by his children but taken care by Lord Krishna as a child due to his Bhakti in him and it has brought tears in my eyes, but that has made me to think till I am actively taking care of me, I don't need to think except the fulfilling of physical needs. Ain't we doing the same in our life?

I have never understood why those who are on path of devotion (Bhakti), Vedanta and spiritual activities are shown as feeble (bechara) and fragile beings (daya patra)... If Shiv (Brahaman) is making me weak, I would rather not ask him to transform me into devotee, better a atheist.

Nowhere our sacred Sanatan literature too has a purpose to make us weak but to make us awaken by igniting our inner tatva- soul and to understand our strength (Shakti) through enhancing knowledge (gyana) and devotion (Bhakti)...  when we see such realisation as weakness in soul, how would we react to spiritual mastery and  that is why most of us postpone our working over the realisation through gyana and bhakti  and remained lost in different phases to fulfill our existencial needs and wait to  become  so weak and fragile in later part of age when we could not do anything else from our choice without realising that even enlightenment and salvation could not be attained in life at that stage because habits are difficult to die or change that's why it is misunderstood that walking on spiritual activities would convert us as weak and underfake  subtle phenomena of calmness and peace ..

Remember, Shiv has not made us vegetable and rather has assigned us with unexplained power to open and understand different dimensions of life mysteries through our concious approach.

"Sat Chit Anand" - Truth Consciousness through blissful state of mind is the key to understand the thoery of Sanatan Dharma. Devotion and faith are name of awakening of life not phasing out to dormant situation. Remember if we follow the spiritual links through the awakened Consciousness, all of us would become out bursting roaring volcanoes while realising Shiv in our soul while keeping a calm posture of yogi.
